Why We Exist
Most Coverage Stops at the Spec Sheet
The technology press is very good at telling you what a device does. Battery life, chip generation, launch price, release window. That coverage is useful, abundant, and largely interchangeable.
It is also insufficient. A camera in a pair of eyeglasses is not a specification problem — it is a question about what public space becomes when recording is invisible. A house that learns your schedule is not a convenience feature — it is a question about who holds that record, and for how long.
We write for readers who have already read the review and want the part that comes after it.
How We Work
Every number carries a source and a date
Each article ends with a research appendix listing every figure we cite, the firm that published it, and when. If you disagree with a conclusion, you can check the inputs.
We name the firm, not the consensus
Market estimates diverge wildly between research houses. We cite one methodology consistently rather than blending incompatible numbers into a false average.
Company claims are labelled as such
When a manufacturer reports its own sales figures, we say so. Self-reported and independently audited numbers are not the same evidence, and we do not present them as if they were.

Three Categories, One Question
The Ambient Home — Systems that infer rather than obey. We examine what they know, where it goes, and which of them deserve a decade of your trust.
The Second Sight — Glasses that see what you see. We cover the optics honestly, and we cover the people standing in frame who never agreed to be there.
The Whisper Layer — The most intimate computer you will own is the one nobody can see. We test what it hears and what it sends home.
Across all three, the question is the same: the technology works — so what does it cost, and who pays?
